Biography of Pastor Walt
Walt Rattray, Pastor of Church on the Street, is a 1969 graduate of California Lutheran University. His addiction to alcohol jaded his high school years and became a controlling factor in his early adulthood. When he wasn’t in school or work, he was in the bars.

Unsettled and restless, Walt took a job in 1969 with Bekin’s Air Van-location, Da Nang, Viet Nam. Life was meaningless, so why not have a little adventure. It was eighteen months of craziness: danger, drunkenness and immoral living. Upon his return in 1971, he embarked on a quest for Truth, a journey that took him deep into the occult and white witchcraft. His one-year marriage to Louene Weber ended in divorce, sending her into her own life of countercultural activities and darkness.
In 1976, looking for manifestations of God, Walt went to a Christian revival service, that had been advertised as a “healing service.” It became His divine appointment with God. He heard the Truth of Christ and responded in total surrender.
He began street preaching in 1977, with the Church on the Street forming in 1985. Divine Providence reunited Walt and Louene; they were remarried in June, 1978. Although they have no children of their own, many across the country look to them as “Mom and Dad” in the faith.
